Emerald dove
The Emerald Dove (Chalcophaps indica) is a beautiful, compact forest dove found in Sri Lanka and across much of tropical Asia. It is easily recognized by its brilliant emerald-green wings and back, contrasting with its warm brown body and distinctive white facial markings. Usually seen walking quietly on the forest floor, it feeds on fallen fruits, seeds, and other plant material. Shy and relatively secretive, the Emerald Dove prefers dense forests, woodland edges, and well-vegetated habitats. Its graceful appearance and shimmering green plumage make it a delightful sight for birdwatchers and wildlife photographers.
